WARNING:
Prior to consideration of this treatment, please read all precautions listed on the following page: All warnings pertaining to the use of both psilocybin and LSD also pertain to LSA.

http://www.clusterbusters.com/warning.htm

Additional warnings and precautions:
If you are pregnant or there is any possibly you may be pregnant, you should refrain from using LSA. One general agreement appears to be that LSA containing seeds SHOULD NOT be taken when pregnant. The active ingredients, possibly including ergonovine, can induce uterine contraction, which can result in abortion, and can restrict blood flow to the fetus.

For additional information and answers to your questions on the use of psychedelics for treating cluster headaches, please refer to the Mushroom FAQ. The following document answers questions and discusses the specifics of using LSA rather than psilocybin.

Why?
After several years of success by others treating cluster headaches with psilocybin mushrooms, Hannah, a woman in The Netherlands began researching other related indole ring psychedelics to see if her husband might have greater success with similar products. He was able to break a particularly nasty cycle with a couple small doses of LSA from Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds. His earlier use of psilocybin mushrooms had provided a great deal of relief but did not completely end his cycle.
Clusterbuster's continued this research and over a period of time, more people have been trying this method, either in conjunction with (not at the same time but as a followup dose), or instead of psilocybin. Results have again been very encouraging. LSA often breaking cycles that even psilocybin could not break. This had long been a subject of discussion as it appears that LSD is even more effective (based upon anecdotal reports) than psilocybin. With LSA being somewhat in the middle between psilocybin and LSD, these results were not surprising to those following and researching this treatment.

Getting past the legal questions that exist in some countries and the moral issues that some people have to struggle with, detoxing is probably the next hardest thing with which people must come to terms. This detox period is in our opinions, an important first step as many people that have not stopped the use of many normally prescribed headache medications, have had less than successful treatments.

Why take these steps? Is it worth the added pain from stopping all medications for 5 days prior to starting this treatment? This may be best answered by your responses to the following questions.

Is the thought of this 5 day period worth it to end the continuing cluster cycle and all the preventives and abortive medications you are presently taking every day?

What toll, monetarily, mentally and physically, are you paying each day the current cycle continues?

Is this 5 day period worth taking if it will stop your cycle?
If you have only a couple weeks expected before your cycle would normally end, you may want to wait and consider this technique as a preventive against your next cycle and not as an abortive for the current cycle.

Do your cycles seem to last longer since you've added some prescription meds? Is the frequency increased even though you may be able to treat some attacks with an abortive?

Other factors to consider:
Yes, some people report increased pain and frequency of their clusters during this detox period. Many other people report a decrease in cluster activity a day or two after stopping their medications. Be sure to taper off any medications that need to be tapered and not suddenly stopped. It is best to discuss this with your doctor. Any time you alter your medication plan, you should discuss it with your doctor.
This detox period may not end up being as bad as you may fear.
One of the most effective abortives for clusters is pure Oxygen.
This is also one abortive you can continue to use without adversely effecting this treatment.

Is further investigation on your part worth it?
Only you can answer that question. There is no right or wrong answer. Everyone must weigh the options and decide for themselves as to if this treatment is for you. There are health issues that must be considered besides all other issues. Be sure to read the warnings link found at the top of this page. There are considerations that make this treatment not viable for some people.

Besides the end of the pain, many people report an even more profound change. The knowledge that there IS something that will end the pain and no longer have to treat each headache and wait for a cycle to end on it's own. The knowledge that maintenance doses once every few months may very well mean no longer having to go through a cycle on the terms your hypothalamus has planned for you. To again be able to take control of your life and no longer live in fear of the next cycle. Replacing months of planning ahead, and around, the next scheduled cluster cycle, with one or two planned doses of LSA or psilocybin. In many cases, a dose of a naturally occurring substance in a sub-hallucinogenic dose. Many people report this psychedelic dose to be even less noticeable than many of the prescribed abortives and those side effects at the higher ranges of preventives.

The Basics by TD

A class of chemicals known as indole-ring hallucinogens are effective for treating clusters, based on what the ClusterBusters and thier predecessors have learned.

The indole ring hallucinogens include: psilocybin, psilocin, LSD, LSA, DMT and a number of others much less well known. Check out Alexander Shulgin’s book, “Tryptamines I Have Known and Loved,” (www.cognitiveliberty.org/shulgin/blg/index.html) and the Erowid web site(www.erowidd.org) for more info on these substances and many others.

- psilocybin and psilocin (from mushrooms)
Magic Mushrooms! Still the ClusterBusters treatment of choice. Works great at about half the dose taken by those who take them for fun. The effect is at the same level as drinking a few beers, tho it’s a very different experience from alcohol. Dosage depends on the species of mushroom used and other factors. Figure one half to one gram of dried mushroom for a theraputic dose. Wait five days between doses for best results. Some folks have had good luck with very small doses of psilocybin taken repeatedly (daily) or at onset of attack. The “trip” effects are zero to just barely perceptible. The “trip” is shorter (3 to 6 hours), relatively mellow, less visual than LSD, but can be just as intense at high doses.

- LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide, synthesized, does not occur naturally, as far as is known)
Very effective for clusters, but has practical problems - illegal drug labs (and all that implies) are the only source. Dosage is in the microgram (millionth of a gram) range and is therefore hard to measure outside a chemistry lab. Famous for its visual hallucinations. Psychedelic effects can be quite intense and last 6 to 12 hours at recreational doses (80 to 100 micrograms). Theraputic dose would be 25 micrograms or so.

- DMT (dimethyl tryptamine, occurs naturally in the brain, and in certain plants).
A very interesting chemical that may hold the key to the mechanism of cluster headache treatment or to cluster headaches themselves. But for treatment purposes - don’t even go there. This stuff is scary. Hallucinations are very intense and appear very real. Not for the faint of heart or mind. This is NOT a drug to take for fun. Taken in two forms. Smoked, it produces an intense trip for about 30 to 45 minutes. Ayahuasca is a South American herbal brew containing DMT from plant sources, along with a plant-based MAOI that allows the DMT to be taken orally. Produces a much longer trip - used for spirit quests and other such religious experiences.

- LSA (lysergic acid amide, from flower seeds)
Three natural sources are available:

Morning glory seeds (certain strains). Contains some other chemicals with undesirable side effects. Seed hulls contain a chemical that produces cyanide compounds, and it is too hard to remove the hulls becuase the seeds are small and you needs dozens for an effective dose. Some commercial seeds are coated with pesticides. Can be effctive for clusters, but not recommended.

Hawaiian Baby Wood Rose. A larger seed with fewer of the problematic chemicals found in morning glory. Seeds are large enough they can sometimes be broken open and the inner kernal dug out and used to make tea. The hulls contain most of the problem chemicals and should be discarded. Dosage - start with one seed and work up to higher doses from there as needed.

Rivea Corymbosa. A smaller seed, but contains the least amount of the problem chemicals. Looks very promising. Called Ololiuqui by the Central American civilizations and used for centuries for medicinal and spirtual purposes. ClusterBuster tests are still new and few - still to early to recommend an optimum dosage.

LSA produces a long but very mellow “trip.” Many of those who have tried thereputic doses report “a warm feeling of well being” or no psychedelic effects at all. However, it still must be used with caution. LSA is a powerful hallucinogen, and at higher doses can produce intense experiences.

All these hallucinogens must be used with caution. Those will mental problems - especially schizophrenia, paranoia or deep feelings of insecurity - should NOT take indole-ring hallucinogens. The goal is to use a sub-hallucinogenic or minimally-hallucinogenic dose, but you should be prepared for a trip, just in case. This means controlling the set (mind-set -if you fear this experience, don’t do it) and the setting (the environment and the people around you). Best to be in a familiar and secure setting and to have only trusted friends (babysitters!) with you. Pick a time when interruptions are not likely, choose some favorite music, movies (not too intense!) games, picture books or other calming and enjoyable media.

The Treatment Basics:

1. Getting ready -
1.1. Diary:
Anytime you decide to try a new approach to treating your headaches, you should first begin a diary of your headache activity to get a baseline of your current status. There are many diaries available online and additional links can be found on our links page.
Continue to use this diary before and throughout the process of your new treatment plan. This will make things much more clear as to whether or not you are making progress and will be very helpful in determining future changes in your treatment plan.
Clusterbusters has designed a Pain Tracker System that may be helpful, especially for cluster headache sufferers. It can be found on this site at : http://www.clusterbusters.com/tracker.htm

1.2 Detoxing
Although we are still learning which medications have an effect on this treatment, it is generally believed that triptans (imitrex etc.), steroids (prednisone), opiods (fentanyl, 'caines etc.), ergotamines (sansert etc) will block any therapeutic value of LSA and/or psilocybin.

Likewise, MAOI's and Lithium must be avoided.

Additionally, it is recommended that the same detoxing procedures outlined in the psilocybin FAQ should be followed. There is additional information to be found here regarding which medications should be avioded. http://www.clusterbusters.com/faq.html#4

2. Preparation of seeds for consumption
2.1 Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds:
Remove the husk of the seed by cracking it open with a sharp pair of scissors or pliers. Peel off the shell and remove the seed pulp found inside. Crush this center seed in a non-porous bowl or mug and put into a small glass of water. A shot glass should work fine.
You should have fasted for several hours prior to, and don't eat anything for a few hours after to make sure your innards aren't coated (and thereby preventing absorption of the LSA). The seeds should then be soaked in water for 2 hours prior to drinking the water and consuming the seeds.

If all goes well, and you need to dose again, wait a min of 4 days (5 or more is preferable). and you can up the dose if you are comfortable and had no negative side effects. [JL]

2.2 Rivea corymbosa
The entire seed(s) should be crushed and soaked in water for 2 hours prior to drinking the water and consuming the seeds.

This is confirmed in an article by Albert Hofmann in 1971:

"Ololiuqui (Rivea corymbosa) was used by the ancient Aztecs not only as a potion but also as an ingredient of magical ointments. At the present time the crushed seeds are taken in water..."

Here's a link to a related article: (compliments of Erowid)

http://www.erowid.org/plants/mushrooms/references/other/1971_hofmann_bulletin-narcotics.shtml#s110

3. LSA hydrolysis (extraction)
Do not heat as is done with extracting psilocybin from mushrooms. Soaking in water is sufficient.
The process involved isn't really "extraction", it's hydrolysis of the ergoline alkaloids into LSA. Hydrolysis is a chemical process of decomposition involving the splitting of a bond and the addition of the hydrogen cation and the hydroxide anion of water. Soaking the entire crushed seeds (including hulls) in wine for 24 hours doesn't "alter the LSA into something more powerful". What it does is hydrolyze the ergoline alkaloids into much more Lysergic Acid Amide.
The efficacy may be due to the combination of ergoline alkaloids and LSA. Hydrolyzing all of the ergoline alkaloids into LSA may be less effective in treating CH. The unwanted (non-ergoline) alkaloids are not hydrolyzed into LSA, but their decomposition from alcohol may reduce their negative effects.

I suspect that soaking them in wine for 24 hours produces a lot more LSA than those same seeds would have produced if they were soaked in water for 2 hours. Also, never consume the husks of HBW seeds. There's no telling what that horrible stuff in the husks will do to you.

[BB]

3.1 Rivea corymbosa
It is believed a better way to ingest them than crushing the entire seeds and soaking them in water for 2 hours is to" Crush the seeds and Infusing them in wine for 12-24 hours".
Note:
Soaking for longer than 2 hours may produce a much stronger effect than is necessary and it is recommended to only soak them for two hours. The ergoline alkaloids can be hydrolysed into Lysergic Acid. That is the reason for infusing the seeds in wine or water for 2-24 hours.
I understand and appreciate the fact that alcohol is a major CH trigger. However, if one shot glass of white wine once a week is not a CH trigger for you; I'd say that optimal effectiveness would be soaking in white wine for 2 hours rather than wine for 24 hours or water for 2 hours.

[BB]

4. Getting Ready
Many have found that drinking a BUNCH of Orange Juice the day after really helped the hangover feeling go away. Another option is to take about 2000 mg of vitamin C

A. Plan ahead.
Get comfortable. Pillows are good. Take a pee first. Arrange to have ambient music or video images... nothing with a 'heavy', deep, or intense storyline. Set aside time where you will have no responsibilities.
B. Check your mind.
Realize and convince yourself that what you are about to do will cause perceptual distortions.
C. Have confidence.
While tripping, trust in the preparations you have made. According to a fellow clusterhead: "Sometimes I have thought: 'do I have to go to work soon?', but then I tell myself that I have planned well and that it shouldn't be a concern."
D. Remain passive.
During the trip, don't make any important decisions, don't perform any weighty actions. If you start getting agitated, dismiss negative thoughts and surrender to the trip.
Enjoy, it will soon end anyway and everything will be normal.
E. Consider having a 'babysitter'
or someone to keep you company during the trip. It should definitely be somebody you trust and preferably someone who won't easily freak out. This 'babysitter' can answer doors and phones and help ensure that the trip remains positive.
F. If you fear, then don't partake.
Shrooms amplify emotions and perceptions during the trip.

"What everyone needs to know in at advance is that sudden anxiety states can occur on a "trip" and this can happen even to experienced users. What does a sudden anxiety state mean? It can happen suddenly at the commencement of the experience and is more likely at this point in the experience than later. It might just mean one has consumed more of the active properties than one's brain stem is used to. Nitrogen is being rapidly released in one's bloodstream and the oxygen supply in blood cells is being rapidly depleted. The fear-anxiety response is an Autonomic Nervous System response to threat - one's eyes become dilated, heart rate and blood pressure increase and the lungs dilate and absorb more oxygen.
So, as soon as the one experiences a sudden anxiety state, your body is asking for more oxygen.
STAY CALM, RELAX, BREATHE DEEPLY, HOLD YOUR BREATH MOMENTARILY BEFORE EXHALING and repeat the whole process until the anxiety disappears as suddenly and mysteriously as it appeared."

5. Consuming
The best way to take LSA seeds is to have a light meal two hours before dosing. No fats with that meal, -- not even milk (well... except fat free milk). Then dose, but your flavor-masking vehicle has to be something that contains no fat and is quickly water soluble. Hershey's chocolate syrup for example will mask the taste completely yet it dissolves away from in a matter of minutes -- especially if you wash it down with a glass or two of orange juice or even water.
Before deciding whether to treat cluster headaches using LSA containing seeds, it is important to consider and understand potential side effects of the treatment.
It is probably in the best interests of the patient to start with a low dose in order to gauge the individual's response to LSA. Also keep in mind that for many episodic sufferers, a low dose may be all that is required in order to be therapeutic. It is important that the patient be of sound mind before dosing because LSA can magnify thoughts and feelings.
The following are some of the low dose effects that may be experienced:
Nausea or gas - This may be greatly lessened or eliminated by using tea to dose.
Hints of visual patterns with eyes closed.
Sharpening of senses - Colors may seem brighter and sense of smell may seem more keen.
Slight stoning effect - usually manifest as a propensity to giggle.
Animated visual `halo effect' - Objects may appear to `breathe' or become a bit `fluid'.

It is not unusual to feel lethargic the day after dosing. Higher doses are often not needed.
However a more moderate strength dose may produce some of the following effects:
Twitching - especially arms and legs.
Lethargy - body may feel heavier.
Mental confusion - thoughts may become confused or exaggerated.
Hallucinations - common hallucinations include faces and distortion of objects
Altered sense of time - Time seems to slow down.
Currently there is no anecdotal evidence to suggest that an especially strong dose is beneficial for treating clusterheadaches.
In addition, the side effects will undoubtedly become exponentially more extreme and more bizarre. Strong doses will often result in some loss of reality and out-of-body experiences. A strong dose also greatly increases the risk of having a `bad trip'.

6. Storage of Seeds
They should be stored in a cool, dry place. Their potency may begin to decrease after 6 to 9 months.
[Erowid]

7. Dosing
7.1 Hawaiian Baby Woodrose Seeds
http://www.tacethno.com/info/argyreia/report01.html
Dosage (can vary with different strains of seeds):

--2/4 mild trip, body load (body weakness), consciousness expansion, drowsiness.
To date, there is some evidence that more than 2-4 seeds is more effective for some people although in most cases, we believe that 1 or 2 seeds is enough for a therapeutic value in treating clusters.
We feel it is best to suggest that folks start low for safety and successively increase dose size accordingly "if needed" as they guage their results.

--8/12 strong trip , long lasting , first a few hours of Cosmic Contraction: stomach and physical discomfort, mental bleakness, sleepiness (and even real sleep), weird half dreaming states. Then comes the Cosmic Expansion: Awakening, mental clarity, consciousness expansion. Mystical insights.

--14/16 : too strong , the discomfort and Cosmic Emptiness last too long, and when Kingdom Comes, the psychonaut is too tired to enjoy it.
It has been stated there's a 1 to 4 ratio of equivalence between the psychoactive effects of HBW and Rivea seeds, 5 HBW seeds being the same as 20 Rivea seeds.

CAREFUL EVERYONE...PLEASE TAKE NOTE!!

These seeds can vary drastically in strength.
I dosed on 5 [HBW] seeds. This actually produced a trip level 4 out of 5
[jokers2]

Note:

Hawaiian Large woodrose seeds supposedly have the same effect. Dosage is identical.

7.2 Dosing - Rivea Corymbosa
It has been stated that there's a 1 to 4 ratio of equivalence between the psychoactive effects of HBW and Rivea seeds, 5 HBW seeds being the same as 20 Rivea seeds.

In this case as stated above, 4 to 8 Rivea seeds should be the range people treating cluster headaches should remain at least for the first dose. If future doses are needed, this number can be modified to suit each individual. You may need to slowly increase the dose size. Begin with a low dose for safety and build higher only if a larger dose is needed for increased efficacy. Use a headache chart to track your progress and this will make it much easier to determine future dosing schedules and dose sizes.

7.3 Dosing - morning glory
MG seeds are a distant 3rd choice, and for a number of reasons I don't think many among us would recommend them. The seeds are too small to remove the husks, which contain most of the undesireable toxins apparently, and they have more toxins than either of the other two choices in the first place. We do have one member among us who has been successful with them, but most of us would tend to steer you to either RC or HBWR.
[JL]

8. Side effects and usual length of "trips"
Best bet is to direct you to the Erowid web site for this detail. www.erowid.com However, many of us have found NO side effects at all (including no hallucinations) when treating ourselves at small dose levels for CH. In fact I personally prefer this treatment to psilocybin for precisely that reason (not to mention that in my case as others, this appears to be even more effective).
[JL]

Many have gotten complete relief with very low amounts, barely enough to notice any effects at all, much less any psychoactive effects. But others have required larger amounts, sometimes bordering on what is considered a "recreational" dose.
It is impossible to determine precisely how large the first dose of LSA seeds should be for any given individual. It's not as if LSA is available in pill form containing a known number of milligrams... we are dealing with a natural substance that is subject to the vagaries of nature. The LSA content of each batch of seeds will vary, sometimes substantially. And, just as with Verapamil or Lithium or Topamax or any other medication, the sensitivity to LSA varies from one individual to another. The amount required for subsequent doses becomes much easier to determine, but for the first dose many individuals are (understandably) choosing to underdose.

9. Suggested Time Span for followup doses.
Just as with mushrooms or LSD, it is recommended that at least 5 days elapse before taking any followup doses. Continued abstainence from all compounds as described for mushroom treatment should be followed before and after and between doses.

Again....we're learning here. Results vary between individuals. Some have completely broken a cycle and gone into remmision with a single dose. Others like myself have redosed once every one to two weeks with increased results following each dose. I have most recently dosed a total of 5 times with HBWR seeds (4, 4, 8, 8, 12 seeds) with my most recent dose 18 days ago. I am currently only getting VERY MINOR shadows at wakeup time in the morning. Assuming I continue to improve, I will likely consider doing a "maintenance" dose in a month or so. If things stay where they are, I may go with a 6th dose in a week or so to try to push the cycle over the edge. As you can see....we are still very much experimenting here. The good news is that we have a lot of very good indicators of success so far.

As far as longer term: Things like "are we killing the beast for good" (not likely, but maybe....), or just masking (maybe, but not sure), long term side effects (unlikely based on lots of former hallucinogenic research), the simple fact is that we just don't know, and many of those questions may not be answered completely for a long time to come. However...the same could be said of MANY "mainstream" and accepted forms of treatment. Bottom line for many of us is that this treatment (including psilocybn & LSD) shows MUCH more promise with far fewer detractions (other than legality and public perception) than any other treatment.
[JL]

10. Legalities
10.1 Legal Status in UK
It is believed that LSA is covered under lysergamide in the old copy of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 i.e. it is a Class A (Schedule I) drug if 'prepared'

http://www.ukcia.org/pollaw/lawlibrary/misuseofdrugsact1971.html

Currently, the laws regarding psilocybin in the UK are under review and changing. Laws regarding LSA specifically should be checked and varified prior to consideration for use.
The laws in the UK regarding the sales of fresh "magic" mushrooms has recently been changed to making them illegal to sell or possess.

Police seize magic mushrooms
http://news.scotsman.com/edinburgh.cfm?id=1656872005

Class A drugs.....

.....Lysergamide.
Lysergide and other N-alkyl derivatives of lysergamide..........
2. Any stereoisomeric form of a substance for the time being specified in paragraph 1 above not being dextromethorphan or dextrorphan.
3. Any ester or ether of a substance for the time being specified in paragraph 1 or 2 above.
4. Any salt of a substance for the time being specified in any of paragraphs 1 to 3 above.
5. Any preparation or other product containing a substance or product for the time being specified in any of paragraphs 1 to 4 above.
6. Any preparation designed for administration by injection which includes a substance or product for the time being specified in any of paragraphs 1 to 3 of Part II of this Schedule.

So in effect, HWBR and Morning Glory seeds have the same status as fresh mushrooms before the clause 21 amendment.

10.2 Legal status in the USA.
Legalities: Well...it is "supposedly" illegal to ingest LSA bearing seeds which include (some) Morning Glory (MG) varieties, Hawaiian Baby WoodRose (HBWR) and Rivea Corymbosa (RC). However, it is not illegal to posess, buy, sell, or cultivate any of them. In fact it is very easy to order non treated seeds over the internet. Non-treated is important because "some" seed companies treat many of their seeds with chemicals to extend their viability, protect against insects, etc....I would suggest it is EXTREMELY rare for someone to get into legal trouble for ingesting these seeds. One would probably have to try VERY hard to get the attention of law enforcement in this case.

11. Procurement
11.1 Growing or Harvesting your own
There's lots of confusion about the various Ipomoea (Morning Glory) species which include I. tricolor, the one with the active ingredient. There are over 500 members of the genus so it is easy to confuse this one with I. purpuraea; unless seen together they can look similar, however I. tricolor is an annual, dying after flowering and seeding, where I. purpuraea is perennial, has very stong stems which quickly climb tall trees and its flowers are usually deeper coloured with hints of purple. It's this one that covers hills, trees, houses and poses eradication probs in warm areas. To my knowledge it (I. purpuraea) has no/few halluginogenic properties.
Here's a pic of:
I.purpuraea strangling a tree:
http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/43864/

I. tricolor, which DOES contain hallucinogenic properties has never been a pest (here anyway) as it is not perennial. It is very easy to grow but to produce enough seed for "dosing" several plants would be needed as the seed are triangular, about 3/8" long and 1/4" wide. Plants grow well on a climbing bean frame in humus-rich soil, are sown as soon as frosts end in spring, and the attractive flowers continue throughout summer until autumn when seed may be harvested. I sowed 50 seed which covered a large bean frame and produced around one cup of seed. Many people are aware of their hallucinogenic properties but accept that growers enjoy the brilliant blue blossoms' color in the garden. The leaves of this one are heart shaped. The plants are not stolen (here) nor do police pay much attention. I. tricolor comes in other colours - red, white, pink and combinations of these, but IMHO it is either Heavenly Blue or Pearly Gates (the white flowered cultivar) we would find easiest.Red flowered cultivars produced little seed on small plants and the pink ones were similar where Heavenly Blue raced up the frame and turned on a spectacular display followed by heavy seeding. I have never grown Pearly Gates. I. tricolor is brand-named "Flying saucers" by some seed companies.

This would be a good time to re-iterate that it's a good idea to identify the right plant before growing or consuming. Look for the annual.I found the Erowid pics confusing in this case. Most appear to be the perennial (there are differences in the leaves) but maybe everything just grows bigger in the USA!

Here's a pic of the right one.
http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/51634/

"Four o' clock" is not a member of these families. Its botanical name is Mirabilis jalapa and I have never heard of its use in this manner. There's a giant cultivar named Mirabilis multiflora which was selected for garden use due to its larger flowers and taller habit. Of course I might be wrong about this - it's just that I've never heard of its 'medical' use down here.

12. Testimonials re: Cluster treatments w/seeds
12.1 Rivea Corymbosa
This is my morning after follow-up. Fell asleep easily at about 12:30 am "still slightly up". Trip level stayed at 2 or below with the 20 seeds. Restless leg syndrome usually causes me to fight to go to sleep but the LSA seems to help "calm" this problem down. The migraine I had prior to dosing did not return this morning and muscles in my neck are much more relaxed. Total sleep time was 9 1/2 hours. This test gets a big vote on overall symptomology, no side effects, overall feeling and morning after results. Rivea Corymbosa is the best IMHO out of the 3 different seeds that I have used in the past...Morning Glory, HBWR, Rivea Corymbosa.

13. Treatment Followup
We aren't sure that breaking a cycle with psychedelics is doing so through the same mechanisms as a natural remission. Usually, at the time of a natural remission, triggers lose their ability to "trigger" very quickly and if the cycle is over, a beer the next day probably won't make a difference.
A psychedelic break may be a bit different and it seems a bit more tenuous in the beginning.
You may need a little more time to allow things to settle down. Also, during a natural remission, it gets there when it gets there. Your system sort of settles down on its own as the remission begins and when you realize the cycle is over, you've gone through that period already where you've stayed away from triggers during this remission period. For some, clusters go away very quickly as the remission begins. For others, the attacks may slowly lose severity and frequency. During this attempt at an induced break (psychedelics) the natural slowdown or (healing) that takes place over some time period, isn't present. You need to give the neurological system a chance to catch up. One of those, "wait a minute, what's going on, we weren't ready for this" sort of things.

So, some of us think that by adding triggers just to test the waters, if done too soon, may be prolonging this cooling off period and the cycle itself.

(yes, just a theory but we are trying to determine why, and explain one reason why, some people take longer to break cycles than others. In many cases, there is still a trigger(s) present during the times people are trying to break the cycles with psychedelics)

After breaking your cycle or if you are currently in remission (between cycles) it is reported that one single dose taken on a schedule of "once every six months" will stop cluster cycles from returning on their regularly scheduled basis. Many people are enjoying years of a continued cluster free life by keeping on a regular schedule of maintenance dosing. This period between required doses is different for everyone and is sometimes determined by the onset of a "shadow" as a precurser of an oncoming cycle. It is generally accepted that a period not to exceed 6 months between doses is good insurance to stop a full blown cycle's return. It is much easier and more successful to keep a cycle from starting than it is to break a cycle.
Maintenance doses vary but people that have success with one single dose.......should avoid further doses once the cycle is broken, unless the symtoms get worse. Your body chemistry may have found it's balance, so best not shake the bottle again. Switch to preventative doses between episodes, therefore once every 3 months, starting in 6 weeks time. Use weak doses - once battered it doesn't take much to keep the beast at bay. After 2 years without any CH reduce the frequency of maintenance dose to once every 6 months. After a further 2 years you may escape with just an annual dose.
